Agathe Genis was born in Tzaneen, a small town in the most northern part of South Africa. She grew up surrounded by tropical fruits, beautiful landscapes, and all sorts of strange little creatures.

Her art is inspired by old vintage illustrated advertisements, patterns, beautifully drawn children books, music and poems. She especially loves using acrylic, oil pastels and polychromos in her paintings, because she is able to achieve an intense and vibrant spectrum of colours that suit her style perfectly.

Agathe prides herself by the fact that her paintings bring joy and optimism in homes both in South Africa and in Austria, where she now lives.
